YU YA CHING Interior Design reimagined classical Italian architecture with a modern, understated aesthetic for a contemporary fine dining experience. They transformed Sabatini Cucina into a cosmopolitan garden rich in Italian cultural ambiance. This marks the restaurant’s first full renovation since its 2002 opening.
With limited natural light, the designer focused on careful lighting and color control to create a warm, spacious feel. Moru glass subtly divides the space, guiding natural light, while indirect lighting softens the atmosphere, enhancing spatial volume.
A mirrored wall by the staircase adds visual depth, creating an intricate interplay of real and reflected spaces. Integrated lighting mimics a cityscape, with varied lights suggesting the essence of Italian dining and daily life.
While preserving the essence of classic Italian flavors, the design modernizes traditional motifs, allowing the dining experience to remain the focus. The ceiling on the second floor features designs inspired by domed ceilings and archways, paired with intricate indirect lighting, creating an interplay of light and shadow. The VIP room ceiling echoes the sun and sunflower fields of southern Italy, adding depth and warmth to the space.
Warm, earthy tones inspired by historic Italian cities, applied in gradient paints, evoke the warmth of sun-faded bricks and rustic pottery, reflecting the leisurely pace of life in these regions.
